Thi, aged 7
Thi’s mother died three years ago, after she contracted HIV from her work as a prostitute. Her father recently died from HIV, so Thi and her younger sister went to live with their maternal grandmother and their uncle and his family.
When we did our first home visit, their small house was a very dirty and there were flies everywhere. We were able to persuade Thi’s family to allow us to send her to the Vũng Tàu Centre for Social Protection of Children in Ho Chi Minh City to live, where she is happy, healthy and safe. At the centre she is treated well by specialist carers and has the support of other children with HIV. The centre also accepts HIV negative children, but as yet we have been unable to persuade the family to let her little sister join her. By sponsoring Thi you will enable us to give her a better healthier life and brighter future by:
